Sebago Overnight

We fell in love when we first pulled into the American Canoe Association's camp on Lake Sebago in Harriman State Park.

Located less than 40 miles from NY City, the camp is easy to get to from all parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, and it boasts some awesome fishing.
Campers will spend the week learning paddling and fishing skills and safety from certified ACA instructors and expert anglers.

Harriman State Park includes dozens of lakes full of largemouth and smallmouth bass and panfish which are perfect for fishing from a kayak.

Getting there:

We will depart from Richmond, VA and can arrange to pick up in Washington, D.C, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York along the way.

Anyone flying in should arrive in Newark and coordinate pick up with us.

We stay in rustic cabins on Lake Sebago. While we don't have internet or TV, we have electricity, comfortable bunks, and an outdoor fire pit for sharing stories and cooking the occasional walleye over the open flames.

Weekly itinerary:

Sunday: Arrive at camp, unpack, get comfortable and maybe even get in a little fishing.

Monday: The day begins with a general orientation to our equipment and surroundings. We begin the week on Lake Sebago right out our front door. The morning includes kayak paddling and safety instruction before moving on to fishing skills. The rest of the day is spent on the lakes within a short drive of camp.

Tuesday: We load up the trailer and head to the Delaware River for a day of floating and fishing for smallmouth bass.

Wednesday: There are so many great options in the area it is really hard to imagine. We leave Wednesday open to try something new. We might head to the coast for a chance at striped bass or make our way to the mountains to try for trout.

Thursday: Water and fishing conditions permitting we head back to the Delaware River. We can't ever really get enough of it.

Friday: With so many species out there we sometimes overlook the panfish. Not on Friday when we team up to see who can bring us the largest stringer back for dinner.

Saturday: pack up and head home wherever that may be.
